AMY FARID, HMUA expert consultant

Amy Farid (Osage) Celebrity Hairstylist/Podcast Host

For those who say dreams don't come true, Amy Farid is living proof that with undeniable passion, determination, and hard work, even your wildest dreams can become a reality. Once upon a time, she was just a small-town Osage NdN girl from Wichita, Kansas with a love of fashion and hair who spent her high school days creating DIY photo shoots with her best friend. Now, Farid has become a creative force in both the fashion and beauty industry thanks to her work as an editorial and celebrity hairstylist - even snagging lead hairstyling gigs at New York Fashion Week for the likes of Hood by Air, LUAR, and Chromat. And, she's done it all while continuing to educate our industry on the very real issues affecting Indigenous people and the importance of inclusivity in Media. Amy created and launched Let’s Have a Powwow Podcast in March of 2025. Her podcast centers around the Urban Indigenous Experience in NYC and Beyond. The pod has featured authors, musicians, actors, directors, fashion designers, and activists. She is using her platform to Amplify our Communities and create awareness that we as indigenous people are not a monolith.
